This year, Jeremiah has a better understanding of holidays and has been particularly loving the Fall holidays we’ve been talking about. To go along with the different Fall activities we’ve enjoyed, I wanted to pick up some themed books during our last library visit.
Here’s the first batch:
Night Night, Pumpkin
By Amy Parker
This is a cute book for toddlers 2 to 4-years-old. It talks about all of the fun activities we do during the Fall season such as jumping in leaves, apple picking, and corn mazes. It’s a great book to read at bedtime because it says “goodnight” to different Fall objects. “Night night, trees”. “Night night, leaves”. “Night night, pumpkin”.
Minerva Louise on Halloween
By Janet Morgan Stoeke
This is such a fun and witty book. Minerva Louise is a rooster who lives on a farm and doesn’t quite understand the concept of Halloween. She enjoys watching the children dressed in their costumes and setting up for a Halloween party. However, she thinks they’re just farmers hard at work. She wonders why she’s the only one who isn’t getting “corn” in her feed bucket when, in actuality, the children are trick-or-treating and getting candy corn!
Happy Thanksgiving
By Holly Price
This is a see, touch, feel book that is perfect for children 1-year and older. I even enjoyed reading it to Adele and letting her touch the pages. It’s a great sensory activity. This is a wholesome book that says “thank you” to different foods and activities we get to enjoy during the holiday.
Max’s Halloween
By Rosemary Wells
This is a cute book with the characters from the children’s television show “Max & Ruby”. Max and Ruby go trick-or-treating on Halloween and as usual, Ruby is bossing Max around. Little did she know, at each house they stopped at, their friends each snuck Max a little extra candy when Ruby wasn’t looking. When they got home, Ruby sent Max to bed, but Max got to enjoy his hidden treats in bed.
Pumpkin Party!
By Maudie Powell-Tuck
This is a short, rhyming book for children 1-year-old and older. The animals all attend a party together dressed as pumpkins. We get to join in on the detailed fun they’re having as we read!
The Ghosts Went Floating
By Kim Norman
This is a cute, Halloween book that describes different ghouls and goblins on their trick-or-treating journey. The text is to the rhythm of “The Ants Go Marching”, which is one of Jeremiah’s favorite nursery rhymes, so he loved it!. This book is perfect for children 2 years old and up.
Which Fall books are you enjoying reading to your little one?
