Birthday Festivities

As we all know, this pandemic is still lingering so we stuck to outdoor activities for J’s birthday this year. Last year we didn’t leave the house at all so this mini-day trip felt good!

We went to Clearwater Beach the weekend before his birthday. This was our first family trip to the beach since moving to Florida, and Jeremiah’s first time ever (Adele’s too)! It was a joy to see his reaction. He loved playing in the sand but didn’t really know how he felt about the ocean.

We spent the day of his birthday at a splash pad/playground. Once again, he didn’t know how he felt about the water but loved playing at the playground. (He loves baths so I’m not sure what his deal is about moving water lol. I guess he likes to be in control!)

Jeremiah’s Birthday Gifts

Chris and I decided our beach trip would be Jeremiah’s main gift this year. We knew he would really enjoy himself so it was kind of a no-brainer.

Some of his other gifts included:

These beach toys: He LOVED playing with these beach toys. He spent HOURS playing with these toys in the sand. We brought his dump truck along too so he could play with them together.

Blippi doll: This kid has been obsessed with Blippi lately, and I mean OBSESSED! We knew we had to get something Blippi-related. We thought this doll was perfect.

Lego train: Jeremiah is also in love with trains (mostly all transportation vehicles. One day we were playing with his other set of legos and I made (or attempted to make) him a train. He wasn’t impressed lol. He saw this train advertised on the back of the Lego bag and stared at it for a good 30 minutes. So, here we are!

Jungle gym: We weren’t too sure if the park was completely safe at the beginning of the pandemic. We spent a lot of time out in the yard but missed out on some valuable playground time. Now that we know it’s okay to be socially distanced outdoors we’re trying to make up for it. Unfortunately, the closest park to us is still 25-30 minutes away. This jungle gym will be perfect for those times we can’t get to the park. It can be placed indoors or outdoors.

Along with these gifts, J received some great gifts from friends and family and the usual clothes and shoes. Thank you to everyone who wished him a happy birthday and sent him a gift!

After the splash pad and a much-needed nap, he got to enjoy some juice and cake. Stay tuned for more details on how I made this lion cake for his birthday.

Overall, I think he had a great birthday, but I’m still processing the fact that I have a 3-year-old! Please excuse me while I go shed a few tears!
